LWRF TRV vs StellaZ TRV
Hi Guy’s
I’ve just been incorporating the new LWRF 868 device’s into my system and I’ve had the chance to shoot some video clips comparing the two above devices.
http://videos.bmslink.co.uk
The video’s speak for themselves, but in a nutshell…
LWRF – open/close time, approx 33 secs each way.
StellaZ – open/close time, approx 10 secs each way
Regarding the noise level’s… I’ll let you decide
From a functionality point of view, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the LWRF TRV can provide temp, setpoint, position, battery on request, so that puts it on a par with the StellaZ.
However, the LWRF unit is quite bulky and the fitting/attachment is not as good as the StellaZ.
When it came to pairing/linking the LWRF TRV, I could not get the android app to function, so I had to instigate device linking from BMS Link.
LWRF have not yet released an API, but from what I've gathered so far, you can have up to 2 off TRV's linked to a Room#.
I have 16 of the StellaZ TRV on my current install, so don't know how the wifilink/TRV's would cope with that.

I originally bought the Lightwave TRV's, but you need to have the iPhone app in "home" mode to be able to setup TRV's. Never actually got this to work and also although I had a Lightwave Link I didn't really want to use it.
Returned them and got the StellaZ's and they are much quieter. I would be nice to have some kind of feedback on the TRV (like the Danfoss) but I guess this would use even more battery power. Ordered some Amazon Basic Precharged AA batteries, I'll let you know how long they last on a single charge.

Hi Phelz,
The StellaZ report temp, setpoint, position and battery natively to BMS Link (same for the LWRF TRV's too).
I have the wake time set to 5 mins for TRV's and with some energiser lithium 1.8V, they last ages.
I don't recommend rechargeables, the reduced voltage will see your battery level's start at around 25% and things just aren't reliable.

Sorry, I meant on the TRV itself. The Danfoss has a small screen so you can see what it's set to without a pc/phone. I think you can even "boost" them.
Will let you know how I get on with the rechargeables

I do agree its a plus point having display and control's on the TRV itself, but whilst the danfoss device's fail to offer temperature and position feedback, they are a poor device. Shame on danfoss
